As its name suggests, the Cervelo R5-CX takes a lot of inspiration from the R5 with some key adjustments. The bottom bracket is about 11mm higher than on the road oriented R5. This helps speed up handling, a must for a cross bike, and also helps it clear obstacles. The bottom bracket is also threaded into the frame in a T47-sized hole and keeps the asymmetric cups of BBRight. This design is unique to Cervelo but still uses standard inboard and outboard T47 cups. A combination of Reserve 40 and 44 wheels adds to that specialized performance. Thanks to the input from Van Aert and Vos, the fit and handling of the R5-CX are entirely unique and effective on cyclocross terrain.
